We arrived and it was a blustery, crisp 40ish day.
...But inside the house kit, because of its passive solar design, it was in the mid-60s! It was great to be able to come in from the cold and wind to the quiet cozy retreat inside. Now remember, no systems are hooked up yet...
South side... the other bedroom you can't see on the left extends similarly as you can see here on the right.
West side...
South-west view...
Inside, the house is filled with natural light!
Yes, this camera has been dropped one too many times by 6 year old, will get new one tomorrow... but at least you can see on the right people to put them in relation to size of the house...
Looking out the south side- you can see the stand of oaks and our picnic table outside.
Blurry pic but you can get a sense of house in relation to people... (plus the sky was pretty... : ) )
I am really, REALLY glad we decided to use the thermal mass of concrete with fly ash. Because we cleaned this floor last week. And LOOK at it now. I would be *freaking* if this were any other flooring... Life=Mud.
More south view with deciduous oaks and picnic table ahead...
Looking out the north side at mischief - this is from the middle bedroom window- HandsomeHusband had cut down a weed tree (we are doing crop tree release to help the good trees grow strong) and children began building their own fort.
Here I am on the east side trying to be all coolio and trying to do a photograph that goes alllllllll the way through the east window here, through the house kit, and out the west entrance door (has the bluish framing look there). But... it didn't turn out. Oh well, an artist's vision (said with french accent) dashed by a cheapo camera! ; )
East view again... it's so purty...
Ah, finally a pic of the west bedroom extending past the south view! Love the juxtaposition of smooth vs. corrugated panels...
We will be upsetting some children when we backfill THE HILL behind here to where it should be, which is around the foundation... what will we do without this hill? Guess we'll have to keep them busy with new adventures...
I don't know why these seams show up in photos sometimes- they don't in real life. But they really bug me. Maybe that doesn't bother anyone else but if you do notice it, know I can't see it in real life when I'm taking the picture. Everything just looks shiny in real life.
Ergh another weird photo with non-existent seams! Why do photographs do that? Or am I the only one seeing it?
Yes there's a bit o' mud I need to spray off on that top piece o' cladding... again, the perfectionist...
If I got up from the dinner table, this is where I would look out.
I need to wash my house kit. Inside AND out. : )
Late afternoon... the light was so beautiful!
...To be continued, soon! : )
