Alley behind the Dumas House This was a much frequented alley. Here we had rock fights. Some people rode horses here. This was our shortcut to Newsom's/Baxter's/Pearson's Store where we could pick up a quick soda pop or candy bar.

In the old days we called this "Wormy Alley". Location was between Van Buren and Mariposa and between 112th and 111th streets. Now it is paved and somewhat level. But back then it was just the lay of the land. Dirt and weeds and slanted to the right, many spots without fences. Big bushes and trees to get around. You would have needed a 4 wheel drive to get through it.
