2012 The Petwood Hotel - The Dambusters Mess

My photograph album from the Petwwod Hotel, Stixwould Road, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, LN10 6QF. The house was built in 1905 for Lady Weigall, and standing in 30 acres the gardens are worth a visit on there own. But what makes this location very interesting is that in 1943, it became the Officers Mess for RAF 617 Squadron – The Famous “Dambusters” with Guy Gibson. The Mess is still part of the Hotel and visitors are made most welcome.

2012 DTM Lausitz Winners Podium

This is my photograph album of the winners of the second race in the 2012 season of the German Touring Car championship (DTM). At the EuroSpeedway, Lausitz, Germany, BMW on their 2nd race comeback in DTM for 20 years won the race with Bruno Spengler in the BMW Bank M3 DTM for BMW Team Schnitzer. Second was Gary Paffett in the THOMAS SABO Mercedes AMG C-Coupé. Making two BMW drivers on the winners podium BMW Team RBM driver Augusto Farfus Castrol EDGE BMW M3 DTM came in third.

Lausitz Saturday DTM Qualifying

My photgraph album from Saturday Qualifying at Lausitz, Germany. In only the second race back in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) After a 20 year gap. The BMW BANK M3 DTM of Bruno Spengler won Pole Position and Augusto Farfus in the Castrol BMW M3 DTM was second, so BMW start DTM race on Sunday 1st & 2nd on Grid.

Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim

My photgraph album: while on the way from Hockenheimring to Nuremberg stopped off a the fantastic Auto & Technic Museum, Sinshiem, Germany. About 30 mins from Hockenheimring on the A6, you can see the Concorde & Concorski aircarft on the roof of the museum. Well worth a visit if passing, they also have a camping on site.

Jim Clark Memorial

My photograph album of the Jim Clark memorial at Hockenheimring, where he died in a F2 race in 1968. Bio:James "Jim" (or "Jimmy") Clark, Jr OBE (4 March 1936 – 7 April 1968) was a British Formula One racing driver from Scotland, who won two World Championships, in 1963 and 1965. Clark was a versatile driver who competed in sports cars, touring cars and in the Indianapolis 500, which he won in 1965. He was particularly associated with the Team Lotus marque. He was killed in a Formula Two motor racing accident in Hockenheim, Germany in 1968. At the time of his death, he had won more Grand Prix races (25) and achieved more Grand Prix pole positions (33) than any other driver. The Times recently placed Clark at the top of a list of the greatest Formula One drivers.

2012 Vectis Spurs Legends Night

This is my photograph album from the Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, Isle of Wight (Vectis Spurs) Legends night with Gary Mabbutt MBE. Gary played for Spurs 16 years becoming club captain and lifting the FA cup at Wembley in 1991 and in 1984 UEFA Cup winning THFC team. Gary played throughout his career with type 1 diabetes and has coped with having to inject himself with insulin four times a day. He is the first type 1 diabetic player, to have played for the England team sixteen times. Gary can normally found on match days in the Gary Mabbutt Suite at Wight Hart Lane.

This is my photograph album of 56th Isle of Wight Marathon Race. The race is organised by the Ryde Harriers, which is one of the oldest Athletics Clubs in the U.K, being established in 1886. My pictures were taken in Arreton, Outside the Arreton Barns site and the watering station at The White Lion, about 15 miles into race.

2011 Malvern Hills Walk

This is my photograph album of the guided walk of the Malvern Hills. This being part of our visit to The Western Motorhome Show with the Auto-Trail Owners Club. Venue: Three Counties Showground, Malvern, Worcestershire. Richard Weir was our guide, which started at the British Camp car park. We were picked up from showground at 6pm and returned around 8pm. Having started our trip at 5.30am from Isle of Wight, it was a long first day of tour!

2011 Chatsworth Park

My photograph album of Chatsworth Park: The 4th Duke of Devonshire hired Lancelot “Capability” Brown (1716-83) to create an imposing man-made setting for the house, one that gave illusion of natural countryside. Brown vast scheme took more than eight years, 25,000 man days of labour, modified the course of the river Derwent. He even demolished part of Edensor village within view of house. James Paine (1717-89) designed new bridges, the stable block and water mill. The park covers 400 hectares and is enclosed by a nine mile dry stone wall. It is home to red and fallow deer, sheep and cattle. The park is open for walkers throughout the year.

The foundation of Baranard Castle dates from the twelfth century, defences were developed during the middle ages. After the death of owner Richard, Duke of Gloucester, later Richard III, the Caslte was neglected by the Crown.

2011 Aydon Castle

Overlooking the Valley of the Cor Burn in Northunberland, Aydon Castle is an outstanding surviving example of a thirteenth-century English manor house. It was built by Robert de Raymes, a Ipswich merchant. The Scots in 1315 pillaged and burned the Castle.In the seventeenth century it became a farmhouse. Used as a family home until 1966. Since 1984 now in care of English Heritage.

2011- Memorial Ploughing Match

My photographs of the third year of the Memorial Ploughing Match. The venue being New Wolverton Farm and held on Sunday 3rd April 2011. The event was first organised in 2008, when sadly four members of The Isle of Wight Traction Engine Club passed away. All proceeds go in aid of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, which raised £4,500 on the day. Stars of the day were the Shire Horses. This being the first time the horse ploughing match has taken place since 1956!

2011 Bembridge Windmill

Photographs of Bembridge Windmill. Bembridge windmill is the only surviving windmill on the Isle of Wight. Painted by JMW Turner in 1795, the mill was built around the early 1700s. Using local limestone, the mill was owned by Dennett family for almost all its working life.

2011 - Thruxton Open Test Day

Photographs of the first day of Open Test Day at Thruxton. British Touring Car Championship Team (West Surrey Racing) were there with Two BMWs. Plus the new BTCC Toyota and the styled Vauxhall. Also the single seaters had there own sections. The 1 hr sesstions costs £175 per hr.
