Mount Stuart is just outside the permit zone (bottom left). NW Forest pass is required though.
North Ridge from Stuart Lake Trail. Ice Cliff Glacier looks tiny in the center of the photo just below halfway.
Porcupine!
Peter taping up a rolled ankle.
Sherpa Glacier. This would have been our descent from the summit which is out of picture on the right. The descent would have hugged skiers left to the rock slabs.
Resting up just after the talus field leading up to the base of the climb below Stuart Glacier and Goat Pass.
Peter below Ice Cliff Glacier. We saw (and heard) a couple nice little ice falls.
Ice Cliff Glacier in the background.
Peter testing out the old ankle on some scramble crack below the route's start.
Ankle is a GO. Let's climb!
Sunset at our bivy. Glacier Peak at right.
Peter leading off another pitch. Snow started to cover the route at about 8,150 ft. just below the notch.
Footsteps in the snow. Bivy spot just starting to melt out on the right below the snow slope.
Bivy spot starting to melt out. Mount Daniel in the distance.
More exposed bivy but flat and on dry rock.
Makeshift rock step.
Upper half of Ice Cliff Glacier.
Lichen covered the rock in many places.
Descending down the notch and gully toward Stuart Glacier. Just above the notch (8,250 ft) is as far as we got.
Glacier Peak.
Peter descending what would've been a fourth class gully sans snow. There was a rap station just above.
Stuart Glacier.
Continuing the descend the gully. Felt like 40 degree snow in places.
We roped up for the Glacier on the ledge to Peter's left.
Full North Ridge of Stuart.
Trundling.
Rock fights back.
