Kincardine Tri Club Banquet

Carrie Houghton President of Kincardine Tri Club invited her Coach Fiona Whitby to be the guest speaker at their year end banquet. Fiona and Brandon made the drive to Kincardine on the Saturday before the snow storm took over. The banquet was well attended despite the snowy conditions. It was a pleasure speaking to the club and answering questions from the veterans and the new athletes. Thank you to Carrie for the opportunity and it was a pleasure meeting everyone.

Hawaii Mauna Kea Climb

Start of our Mauna Kea Climb Day. Fiona and Tara set off at 5:55am for a head start on Nigel leavning at 6:15am. We rode from our condo in Waikoloa Beach Resort to the Visitor's Centre up Mauna Kea at 9232ft (3000m). It was dark when we set out but soon the sun was up and we could "see". Our lights were helpful for the few cars that drove past. Nigel caught us about an 1hr and 25min into the ride, we said our hello, and off he went. At 3hrs Brandon and Joe our support crew were upon us. Perfect timing as our fluids were running out and nice to see a friendly face. It was a pretty quiet ride up over the top of Saddle Road before getting to the base of Mauna Kea. Continued within picture captions....

NRG PT Training Camp Week 2. A new crew of athletes (except 1) with Joe, John, Graham, Dan and Duncan who's still here! Despite the higher level of testosterone in the house it is a much quieter week...maybe they're just tired from all those hard workouts! But they eat...boy do they eat, you've gotta be quick at the fridge or its gone! We've learned who has chocolate cravings and sweet tooths...can't tell who though! But there have been plenty of Skinny Cows and cookies being eaten. Good thing its a training camp and metabolisms are running high. Another successful camp week with many miles done by all. The coaches have earned some downtime. Safe travels boys and see you the same time next year :) (and before then too!)

Florida Camp 1 2009

Clermont Florida our NRG PT Home Away From Home! Week 1 of 3 camp weeks. The weather has been perfect, sunny, warm with daily temperatures around 23 degrees and of course no snow! We've had the pleasure of traininig Ed, Jane, Andrea, Duncan and Rob, what a week it has been. Rides, runs, swim sessions, video analysis on the big screen, cold pool recovery and hot tub nights. Regular trips to the local Publix (grocery store) in order to feed 8 hungry athletes! And we can't forget the local fare at the Redwing restaurant just down the street; no burgers and fries there just Mahi, Tuna, Steak, Shrimp, Lamb, Chicken, Salmon or 'Fresh Road Kill'!! Well done on a fabulous week of training...look forward to a great season and a rehash of crazy Jane for next year ;)

Hell & Back 08

Our annual Hell & Back ride, 150km with a mix of paved, gravel and off road, start temp -2C high for the day 2C, and lots of snow on all the off road sections, 6 starters, 3 finishers fastest time being 6:30! Those tough enough to show up: Andrew, Stephen, Andy, Count, Martin and Nigel, with Andrew, Stephen and Nigel finishing the full ride

Muskoka 70.3

The inaugral Huntsville Half Ironman aka Muskoka 70.3 triathlon. The 2008 race enjoyed 20 degree weather, odd for Sept but there was rain and plenty of it! The race starts at Deerhurst Resort; the swim is in Pennisula Lake, the bike goes through Dwight, Dorset, Baysville and back to Deerhurst through beautiful scenic country with many ups and downs along the way. Don't let the run fool you it is a hilly course but beautiful too, if you remember to look around. The golf course is nasty, twisty, hilly and it feels like the 5km never ends! But it does :) Congratulations to all of our NRG PT athletes who raced (and the supporters for spectating); we had 60+ of you out there...thanks and well done!
