Las Vegas 2007

We visited the Mirage Hotel so we could take in the Beattles tribute show "Love" performed by Cirque Du Soleil. The Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat is a tropical atmosphere, surrounded by palm trees and lush foliage. It is home to several beautiful Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, as well as, Siegfried and Roy's Royal White Tigers, Magical White Lions, panthers, and leopards.

Mendocino Costal Area

The Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, located in Ft. Bragg, offers a great slice of Califronia scenery. The village of Mednocino was established as a logging town. Lumber was moved from the cliffs to awaiting Lumber Schooners by "Apron Chutes". I can see why this operation took more than one life.

Jacksonville and Butte Creek Mill, OR

Jacksonville is located a few miles west of Medford, Or. Investigating Jacksonville is a trip back in time. When gold ran out and the railroad bypassed this town it just stopped, which probably saved it from mass "modernization". The Butte Creek Mill is one of handful of operating grist mills in the US. The current owner is dedicated to preserving the mill and attached store. The mill is located in Eagle, OR, just east of Medford.

Sedona, via the "Back Way"

We traveled south from Williams using back roads to reach Clarkdale, Cottonwood and finely Sedona. I think you will agree the "Back Roads" are nothing more than a graded, to some degree, gravel roads. We won't do this again, however the views were great.

Williams and The Grand Canyon Railroad

Williams AZ, still has remnants for the 1940's roadbed of Route 66, and section of the original 1908 roadbed. It was like time travel when we viewed old road side business that most likely were standing and in use during the great migration of the dust bowl era. A real Steinbeck experience.

Grand Junction, CO and Vicinity

Our Grand Junction Album containes shots of Cousin Bob and his "Dog" Stormy. Bob's property in Little Park, with Mark and Penny close by. The Colorado National Monument, and Ute Indian Museum in Montrose, CO Grand Junction got it's name from the junction of the Gunnison and Grand Rivers. The Grand River was subsequently renamed the Colorado River.

Dale Chihuly's Wall of Glass

The glass enclosed walking structure straddles the 705 Freeway in Tacoma, WA. One end of the walkway is anchored by the Museum of Glass, the other by the U.S. District Court.
