You've heard it before; it was cold at ColdWars!
Starting to setup the battlefield.
My friend Sprague thinks there are too many trees.
Ok! I'll put them all on this side.
Brian begins to deploy the Turks for me.
There that's a nice group of Turks.
Lot's of Russians to deploy for this battle.
The battlefield from the town of Gorni Dubnik
A close up of the Guards, well in fact all the Russians are Guards for this battle.
Well except for the Cossacks and the Engineers.
The view of the battlefield from the South, Gorni Dubnik is to the East.
The view from the West.
The fortified Turkish positions across the road to Plevna.
The view from the Turkish positions.
General Gourko and his ADC. Thanks to Ross Macfarlane.
Close up of the poised attack formations.
Like a tightly coiled spring, ready to be unleashed.
The Turks await.
The Krup awaits.
Nobody showed up to play---so we played the game---fancy hats and everything!
The Russian command; my wife Gaelyn, and my friends Brian and Sprague!
Somebody had to be the Turks, so it's me!
Brian is pleased with the summary sheets he made for the game. Thanks Brian!
It starts, Gen Sprague begins to move forward.
Gen Gaelyn's artillery move to the heights to unlimber.
Gen Brian moves his forces to the right flank, he's apparently studied a little since the first game.
The Russians begin to mass to the right.
Gen Sprague is the distracting force.
The Turkish view of their left flank. That's a canister template on the table.
Gen Brian unlimbers his gun on the hill.
First strike to the Turkish Krup and a morale sheep is awarded.
Gen Gaelyn's Russians deploy into firing line.
As they get close the Russian casualities begin to mount.
That's some mighty fine rifle fire--of course they are Henry-Peabody's.
I'll move them over there.
No I'll move them over there.
No I'll just let them shoot.
Gen Brian is clearly perplexed by my brilliant non-tactics.
Telling casualties for the Russians.
A few for the Turks also.
More excellent rifle fire.
More sheep are awarded.
The Russians fire back, nobody rolls sixes like Sprague.
The Turkish right flank moves out to intercept the Russians.
The Cossacks try to force the fortifications, they are all shot down over two turns.
Less Turks defend the line.
Gens Briand and Sprague confer; "You're ugly!" "Oh yeah, your mother dresses you funny!"
A view of the main Russian asault.
The Cossacks are still seated.
One Turkish Regiment has ceased to exist.
The Turkish left hand regiment is taking casualities also.
The last Turkish regiment moves up.
The Russians gather for the kill.
It looks bad for the Turkish fortifications.
Gen Brian is much happier this go round.
The Russians advance and the Turks still award them sheep.
The Turkish Krup fires again.
The Russian Arty responds.
The last stand of Hauser Pasha.
Ok now this is just wrong!
