Benne seed biscuits, 10/29/09
First ever use of my stand mixer's dough hook, in preparing challah, 12/29/09
The recipe for this challah came from Bernard Clayton's New Complete Book of Breads.
Rolling the dough into ropes and braiding them was difficult, and the result is somewhat messy. But the egg wash turned the crust this lovely brown.
I couldn't believe how much the flavor and texture reminded me of my Grandma's challah. I think she would have been proud.
