This is Aubrey. She is an Our New Baby doll. She is one of the earliest versions. No # on her neck, and long, flat neck strings. She is shown with her "My Baby Dolls Memory Book" hang tag, and the Our New Baby book.

Here you can see her "palms up" and wide open arm span, which are characteristics to look for when seeking out an Our New Baby. There are, however, some Our New Babys without this wide open arm span and palms up appearance. If you see a doll with the "palms down" appearance, you must check the neck stamp to determine if she's an Our New Baby or not. If you see a #14 on her neck, and she has the palms down appearance, she is most likely an early Bitty Baby. If you see a #14 on her neck and she has the "palms up appearance", she is an ONB. If you see no # on her neck, she is an Our New Baby, regardless of arm positioning.***PLEASE SEE THE END OF THE ALBUM FOR A DOLL THAT IS AN EXCEPTION TO THIS GENERAL RULE***
Also, look for eyelashes like these: Long, soft, and almost white on the caucasian doll.

Here is what his hair looks like from the side view. His neck is stamped "750/14" under the Pleasant Co stamp, and his neck strings are not totally flat and ribbon like.
Here is a picture of the meet tshirt and diaper that were included on Our New Baby's, as well as the sleeper in the previous pictures. The three pieces are typically tagged "Made in West Germany for Pleasant Company, 1990"
This is Phoenix, and she is my first AA Our New Baby.
She has the cutest little face with pale pink lips, and soft, long eyelashes.
She looks alot darker with the flash, but her color in the previous pic is more true to life.
Phoenix has the "palms up" apperance and wide open arm span that Our New Baby's are known for.
Her neck strings are regular, and her neck is stamped Pleasant Co with no # underneath.
He vinyl is just amazing....look at that face!

Here is a side view of her molded hair. It is supposed to appear textured. It is very deeply grooved.

This particular doll has her original box, outfit, Memory Book Hang Tag, and paperwork. A true find! She is my 2nd AA ONB doll.
She was mint and still tied in her box when I got her. Her box is dated October 30th, 1990.

Poor thing has bubble eye in each eye. This is very common for the German made dolls from the early 90s. This particular doll is from 1990.

The Bit O Bunny's are NOT tagged Pleasant Co. This is how they are tagged. They were manufactured by North American Bear Co. This was back when Pleasant Co would pay different companies to produce items for them.

Here is a tan ONB diaper, tagged "Made in West Germany for Pleasant Co, 1990". I am not sure how often these come up.
I found this perfect little diaper on my first edition African American Our New Baby that was never removed from the box. This diaper is very thick and raspy feeling compared to the other diapers I have felt. Maybe because it is new, I dont know......
It is tagged 1990 Pleasant Co West Germany. The interesting thing is that the tag is underneath the velcro rather than on the side or back of the inner diaper.

Each page does something special. This page has pull tabs that make the bottle go up and down and the hand pat the baby's back.

On this page, the baby plays peek a boo and the Bit O Bunny squeaks.
On this page, the bonnet goes on and off, and the bow can be tied or untied.

Now we will move on to some ONB comparison pics. In this pic, you will see an early ONB on the right, and a later ONB on the left. The ONB on the right has no # on her neck. The ONB on the left has the #14 on her neck. Both have long, flat neck strings.
You can see that the later ONB on the left has a wider space between her eyes, and more subtle coloring.

Here is an example of an Our New Baby doll that I found that has a WHITE body rather than tan. She has the #14 on the back of her neck, and regular (not flat) neck strings. When you lay her flat, she has the "palms up" appearance.
Here is another picture of the ONB that is in the previous picture. Here you can see her wide open arm span and "palms up" appearance. She has the #14 on her neck, and her hair isnt extremely grooved like some ONB's.

There is something that puzzles me with this doll. Her neckstamp and positioning of her arms dont line up with what I know about Our New Baby dolls. She has the #14 on her neck, and her palms are down, BUT she is obviously an Our New Baby. You can tell that by looking at her eyelashes, vinyl, and hair grooves. Not to mention the fact that she is in her original 3 piece ONB meet outfit and original Our New Baby box. This perplexes me. I am starting to think that there is really no shurfire way to tell an Our New Baby from a Bitty Baby....in this case, the arms dont tell me, but her overall look does tell me.

My most recent ONB doll purchase. This beautiful baby is new in box, with hang tag, info card, and inspection card.
This inspection card is signed by Marianne Gotz, and dated August 30, 1990. I have heard in the past that some early Pleasant Co dolls were made in the Gotz factory. Could this be proof that the earliest Our New Baby dolls were made in the Gotz factory as well? This card is dated August 30th, 1990, and the New Baby line debuted in the fall of 1990, so the time frame lines up. Also, the hang tags of the New Baby dolls state that they were made in W. Germany, and the Gotz factory was located in W. Germany. What does everyone think? Were these dolls actually controlled by Marianne Gotz in the Gotz factory, or does this card actually go to a Gotz doll and got into the New Baby box by accident by the previous owner?

Back in the 90s when you purchased the New Baby items, you had the option of getting them gift wrapped at an additional cost. These ribbons were the gorgeous ribbons that were part of that professional gift wrapping through Pleasant Company. Awesome that I have them after all these years, huh?
