Maia went up to Indian Cove with John, Carol, and Isabel on Fri. evening, while Kari, Daniel, and I came up after Daniel's soccer game on Sat. (they beat the other Redlands spring select team 3-1 in a hard-fought game). Sat. evening I went for a 12-mile run from the campground, down the road, and up the Boy Scout Trail. Just as I was thinking about turning around I came upon two backpackers, greeted them casually, and then did a doubletake - they were Keith and Kimi Beck. On Sun., the Murphy-Derris family drove up and Kari led them and Daniel on a hike up Rattlesnake Canyon, while Maia, Isabel, John, and I climbed (and Carol took a phenology class). Both girls enjoyed a 5.4 and Maia did her first 5.9.
