Found a good way to hold the wrench while I'm in the cabin putting on the locknut.
I place a couple boards and a mat in the cabin for me to lay on.
Tank straps in position. Bolts will reach.
Riveting the glareshield into position.
Glareshield riveted. Notice that I then painted the edges black. I used metal etch, followed by flat black enamel.
Good or bad, I decided to install the Oops fitting in the fuel tank.
After the uni-bit.
There was a huge lip on the inside. I couldn't find an easy way to get rid of it. A Dremel, cutting disk and a lot of patience did the trick. Be careful not to enlarge the hole!
Once the hole was done, I fed a piece of safety wire though and fed the fitting down the wire.
There is a 3/4" washer at the end that keeps the fitting from falling out. When done, cut the wire and spill the washer out the fill hole
The fitting has a washer on the inside and outside. As an engineer, I think that either would seal fine, but two makes me feel real secure. This "little" project took about 2 hours!
I'd picked up some dollies from HF. I built up a small heavy-duty dolly for the front gear. I can now move the plane around with 1 hand!
