The tank was way to tight. I took off most of the front upper felt, and then cleaned up with mineral spirits.
When I pulled then out, I could see marks where it had been hitting. And, it was maxed out against the glareshield.
Both sides...what is happening ?!?!
Oh...the whole tank is warped!
Hard to see here, but there is a 3/8" gap in the middle.
I tried pulling the tank in and up.
Yoy can see the glareshield deflecting.
I finally used a lever on both sides against the rudder bar and forced the tank in. Not shown here, but I removed the tank restrain angles and reattached when the tank was fully in.
I made sure the front of the tank was centered up.
In the process, I had leaned on the glareshield and saw how much it deflected. So I added a short section of Z03 and dimpled the rivets.
Flush rivets won't be seen. I can lean on the glareshield now and it barely moves.
