The kit hasn't arrived yet but the workshop (garage) is good-to-go. I printed out a tree and marked off the sections that won't apply.
OK - I bet no Sonex builder has done this. I bought a $5 AC Hobbs meter off of E-Bay and wired it to a red light. This is how I will keep true time of my build-time.
The light is on which means there's building going on. OK - I'm not including time spent cleaning up, or on the computer buying parts & updating this site. I do include planning & drawing review time.
This wall is my "regular" area for projects & house maintenance. I do try to keep my bench cleaned up and organized.
Woodworking tools are in the corner behind the radial arm saw. That saw is nearly 50 years old and was passed down to me from my dad.
More tools as I move over toward the sheet metal area. The grinder & sander will come down next.
Here's the airplane/sheet metal area. The bandsaw is coing down too.
This is the single bay of a 3 car garage and where most of the work will occur. You'll notice 2 compressed air storage tanks. The air compressor is sound-isolated downstairs, although the switch is here in the garage.
3 Bay garage. Extra workbench is in the 2 car bay. My son, the Boy Scout's kayak is suspended from the ceiling. Per Phil Simon's suggestions, I piped & dropped air lines from the ceiling too.
I needed to be able to watch football while building, so I ran cable in and mounted an old TV.
Workshop from the opposite bay.
View of the extra work surface.
Built a small shelf for various reference material.
Won't use this SEA & Metric hardware. Note the box of my folded drawings sorted by drawing number.
View of the dropped air lines. I put regulators on 2 of the lines.
My "Inspiration Wall." I tried to find builder photos of tri-gear planes. Notice my workshop section hanging on the wall!
