I just could not figure out why my lower joint would not come together!
Ohter builders had mentioned that the secret to a good fit was to cutt off the bottom agressively. I decided to try ~1/8" although that meant all my nicely drilled holes would need to be filled and redrilled.
I took off an 1/8" on both lower sides. (not enough!) I essentially marked off 1/8" on the bottom and drew a striaght line to the existing cut at the top. So I was only removing lower material.
Taling an 1/8" off made an immediate improvement. I used a strap to hold the cowl in place.
There wasb't any pressure appliedm but I was careful where the strap crossewd the windshield.
Closer...but no cigar yet!
Take off another 1/8" and sand down to the line with the beltsander.
I also needed to take a smidgen (technical term) off at the top.
Closer!
I also decided to take a very little off the top. I used a Bic marker rather than a sharpie so that I could just wipe marks off.
I also needed to sand off a few corners that were interfereing.
