First (upper) Floor. We're changing a bunch of stuff here. Current plan is to swap the Mud Room with the Pantry, providing a much bigger Pantry. The Mud Room will be narrower - more of a pass-through with benches & coat racks. Dining Room is not raised as noted. Actual Kitchen layout is TBD.
This is the side facing Interurban Trail. If you were down there standing on a 15-foot ladder, you would see this view of the house. Most of the vertical supports for the decks have been removed. The builder cantilevered the decks in order to minimize the need for posts, which really cleans things up!
The boring side. This side faces the next door neighbor, so its kept pretty simple. We are adding skylights for some additional sunlight in places.
Second Floor (middle floor). Living space, showing master suite and the yoga studio space. The garage space will be set up for wrenching on toys. The Family Room will be a home theater. The separate Entry & stairs go down to the lower apartment/office.
This really shows how the house cascades down this terraced lot. The garage shown on the left will be built out as a yoga studio. You can see the separate entry at right for the lower apartment/home office.
Lower apartment unit. Initially our plan was to rent this out, but now we plan to turn it into a home office. We'll still build it out as a rentable apartment unit in case we change our minds later. This should also make for pretty nice guest accommodations!
Entry to the main (upper) floor. This side faces the narrow lane that provides access to houses along Interurban Trail.
Pretty busy roofline. We've since changed all the hipped ends to be gabled, so it has a little more craftsman styling to it.
Proposed changes to the Master Suite. We wanted to create a walk-in shower, so we swapped sinks with shower stall, ditched the tub for a Japanese style round soaking tub, and added glass shower walls & dual shower heads. Glass walls should allow plenty of sunlight from windows or glass block exterior wall (also proposed). Also changed up the entry to the walk in closet - allows for a full length counter.
