I thought this was a typical park view
If you look really close you'll notice that the view on this bathroom stall goes both ways. You can see out - but they can see in.
Public fishing pier with a nice sunset. It was interesting because the Japanese put their bait in little baskets on the end of their line. Also, their bobbers glowed in the dark.
My barracks.
View of the NEX (also known as the PX for Army types, BX for Airforce.)
Overlook of the base looking southward.

Morning at Station 5
Mt. Fuji mocks me. I must conquer it.
Dawn breaks in the distance. Too bad I've been up since 1:30am.
Beginning of the hike. I'm still so full of energy, I'm running.
About 2/3 of the mountain left to go.
Yes, it's really that steep.
Upper third of the mountain.
Just a few more steps to the top.
Yes, this is the top. This is the first mountain that I have ever climbed that had tourist shops providing trinkets, food, and cold beer.
Someone told me that Tokyo had more vending machines than the entire world combined. I really didn't believe it until I saw this one at the top of Fuji.
The crator.
Far rim.
View looking down. Notice all the ants still climbing the hill. (seriously, it's shaped like a giant anthill - a big cone.)
This was the view. Nothing but cloud tops with a few gaps to the land below.
A deceptive shot. The ground is almost vertical.
The true angle.
OK...I did put on sunscreen. I think my mistake was that hour nap in full sunlight on the top.
Downtown Yokosuka
Riding the trains.
Kamakura - home of the Great Buddha
Every shrine has water for you to rinse your hands and mouth before you approach.
Yup - it was a great
The Great Buddha. According to the histories there was a building around it that was swept away in a tidal wave.
These miniature buddhas are to comfort unborn children.
View to the sea from Kamakura
Entrance to a cave with really old carved Buddhas.
This are prayer cards. I agree with this one. Although, I don't think cicadas bite people. They were really really loud.
On the way to the Akasana shrine

5 story pagoda
Japan's National Museum
Every store had these umbrella stands in front of them. I think they are a good idea.
Coolest sink in the world. It was automatic water, soap, AND dryer. All in the same sink.
Turtles and Koi going crazy.
Outside the Imperial palace
Tokyo. I thought the buildings would be bigger. At least five times bigger. It's like a city for ants.
My vote for one of the coolest statues in the world.
Yokohama
Tallest building in Japan. I think it has 71? stories.
