Mystic Seaport

Mystic Seaport is a large nautical museum set-up as a village that would be a port for ships. We were able to tour several different ships as well as shops and such in the village. There was a printer, blacksmith, school, church, grocery, clock/instrument shop, etc etc. The day was lovely, a little warmer than we like, but still great weather.

Costa Maya, Mexico

Costa Maya has not been a cruise port for long. Costa Maya is actually the name of a resort that was built after hurricanes damaged Cozumel. The people in the area are poor- many make their livings selling fruit and hand-made goods at road-side stands, and the tourists are a big help to the local economy. We took the Mayan reality tour to see visit some ruins and see what the life of a Mayan family is like. This family is rich by local standards- not like most of the people in the area, they have a large plot of land and many rooms to their house. Their way of life is still traditional to Mayan culture and tradition.

Santo Tomas de Castilla

Our visit to Santo Tomas de Castilla, Guatemala. The people in this area are very poor, and the cruise ship tourists are a major source of income for the locals. There is a large market of hand-made items where we bought several Christmas gifts. We found a nice swan/goose neck carved cane for Dad.

These pictures are of the Midnight Gala Buffet. They had a photo session before the buffet opened. We ate only with our eyes :) The lighting was very low, but my flash really washed-out the pictures, so they aren't so hot.

Glacier Helicopter Ride

This was our favorite part of our Alaskan trip- well worth the money! Not all my pictures are great though, the helicopter has large windows, but depending on the sun I could see my own reflection or quite a bit of glare, there were also some bug splats on the windows. I guess what I mean is these pictures can't do it justice.

Seattle Underground Tour

17 October 2005 These pictures were taken on the Seattle Underground Tour. The streets of Seattle were raised, making the original first floor basement level, and the second floor ground level. This was a fun tour. They had a lot of sewer problems- hence the many toilet pics ;)

Views from the Space Needle

17 October 2005, we ate in the Space Needle restaurant and stayed there until it was dark. Many of my pics were blurry, so here are the best of the ones I took. The restaurant rotates, and it was neat to see the lights of the city as the sun went down.

Whale Watching Trip

Well, I'm disappointed that all I have to show are a few fins. The whales were right up to the boat, but anyone with a digital camera knows the delay they have, they don't take the picture the moment you press the button. I was really cursing the delay this day- we could have had some great pics had I brought my other camera along as well. That's life!! :) We also had a lot of pictures of blank sea or sky, the boat was really rocking! The whales came right up to our boat, they were gorgeous to see up close.

Butchart Gardens

Fall 2005: We went to the gardens on an overcast day, just after a rain, and it was gorgeous! Imagine the gardens in the spring and summer months if they are this lovely in the fall. It was a bit chilly, so I wore Jeff's jacket since I forgot to bring my own.

Red Rock Canyon, NV

12 October 2004- our trip to Las Vegas. We drove through Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and saw this amazing scenery and even wild burros! There is nothing like this in Ohio!
