"Roydon Common was the location for a wartime bombing/artillery range. The ground marks indicating the target have long since worn away. The remains of two quadrant towers used for plotting the accuracey on-target can still be found on the edges of Grimston Warren. Until recently this quadrant tower was surrounded by a dense connifer plantation now felled as part of a habitat reconstruction project"
