I haven't been clean shaven for 5 months now, beard trims, of course, and cheeks have been shaved, a few times, but I've always kept at least a goatee and mustache. Interestingly, those two bits grow faster than anything else, so even if I don't trim, I still have a pretty defined goatee, like in my engagement pictures. :)>"
