Walking up Mt Oberon.
Beautiful views everywhere.
Green and luscious. You might notice that some of the tree stems are a little burned. This is from a bushfire three years ago. The areas affected by this years fires are in many cases totally burned out.
Going up, up, up....a rather tough walk upwards for 3.5 km.
But the view was definitely worth the walk. Very windy though and the visibility changed rapidly all the time as the clouds passed on by.
Overlooking Norman Bay from the summit.
Some of my fellow tour mates.
Another pic of the breathtaking view of Norman Bay.
Overlooking the most southern point of the Australian mainland.
A little chilly in the wind.
The brown area is one of the areas that was burnt in this years fires.
Down from the summit of Mt Oberon and ready to be transported to our second trail.
Not a very good picture (taken through the window of the bus) but it shows how the burnt tree has come to life again, the leaves growing directly on the stem. Apparently a totally normal thing after a fire.
A real life wild kangaroo!
Exotic, and I even got to see him jumping away as well.
Beautiful fall colours in the otherwise so very green landscape.
Squeaky Beach with its pure white quartz sand. The beach was once known as the "singing sands" because of the sound made when walking on it.
Two of the tour participants and our tour guide Andy to the right.
Even I ended up in a picture or two.
Beautiful views walking along Squeaky Beach.
Leaving the beach and following the Tidal River trail.
Almost like back home with the granite cliffs.
Squeaky Beach
We got company along the trail. A very cute Wallaby (a mini kangaroo) jumped up only about a meter from where we were walking.
Having a snack!
The end of the trail with the walking bridge leading to the camp site.
Very green everywhere something I'm not used to back here in Melbourne where it's very dry and brown everywhere.
Another beautiful view.
A perfect sunset concludes a perfect day!
Most of the gang from today´s excursion (five Chinese, two Indians, a girl from Germany and me).
