Mt Everest Presentation
On Monday, November 28, 2011, Troop 212 arranged for a special guest speaker to talk to the Scouts about climbing Mt Everest and all of the training and preparation required to accomplish such a tremendous goal. Our guest was Dr. John Dahlem, retired Principal of Loara, Kennedy and Western High Schools in Anaheim, California. John earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1956 and is also a decorated veteran of the war in Vietnam. John is an avid mountain climber who has climbed all 7 of the Seven Summits including reaching the summit of Mt. Everest in May of 2010 with his son, Ryan. John is the second oldest American and John and Ryan are the oldest Father-Son combination to ever stand atop the world.
