The start - Strathcarron Hotel
Leaving Strathcarron - with the thoughts of camping high in line for modification
Bendronaig Lodge
Heading towards Loch Calavie
Alt an Loin- fhiodha in spate. This was 7m across and the reason it's blurred is because I was still shivering, having waded thigh deep. Others decided to swim it at the outlet to Loch Cruoshie!
Maol - Bhuidhe. The smoke coming out of the chimney (not that you can see it here) looked good; but it was the swimmers drying out!
Iron Lodge - at last
Iron Lodge "bedroom". Not quite en-suite, but not bad for nothing.
My original route: on towards Mam Sodhail ridge. But, this is from my FWA. The ridge will have to wait for another time.
Coire Fasaich
Nearing the top of Coire Fasaich
Alltbeithe Hostel
Glen Affric
Glen Affric - again.
And again...
And......... again.........
Rob and Lisa Hausam.
Looking up towards Mam Sodhail and my originally intended campsite at the top of Coire Laechavie.
En route to Cougie.
Des Horan and Eddie Fowler
A break besides Alt Garbh.
I'm pleased I left the Mam Sodhail ridge for another time.
The path towards Cougie was not nice, but the views were superb.
Mam Sodhail ridge - what might have been.
Cougie - an oasis.
Sasha and Tina - fantastic hosts at Cougie.
Eddie - gets ready for a ..... 14 hour day! Little did we know at the time!
I get ready for a 14 hour day - you get the picture?
I think this was our first - oops we (Eddie, Des and me) missed the turning point.
Looking back over Glan Affric from Bealach Feith na Gamhna.
And.. higher up.
Did we really follow this down from the baelach? The winding river and boggy ground added many metres to our route.
Aghhhhh ..........bliss!
Fort Augustus Campsite. We got here at 2300 last night. Still my evening meal, which I had for breakfast, was good.
Des Horan joins me for our trek up the Corrieyairack Pass.
Fort Augustus.
Blackburn bothy.
The long and winding track.
Follow the pylons.
Melgarve
Garve Bridge - temporary home.
Bill and Brian and Rory and ... guess where?
Phones
Me en-route to Kingussie from Phones.
Des en-route from ....
Ruthven Barracks.
Looking back towards Kingussie.
River Tomie. And.......... I saw this as a place to cool off my feet!
Heading up towards Maol a Ghiubhais.
If you go down to the woods today............ you'll loose the right path.
Baileguish.
Looking back towards Baileguish.
Bridge over Allt Fhearnasdail.
Glen Feshie.
Glen Feshie - another view.
River Feshie.
ditto.
Smoke signals.......... it say's tomorrow will be wet, windy and cold. They were right!
Bridge over the River Kwi, er, make that Feshie.
A brave Challenger.
Ruigh - aiteachain bothy.
There's a hole in my bucket..........
Not quite the electric chair!
Home sweet home.
My neighbours.
It really will be bad tomorrow!
A calm morning start.
Bridge over the River Eidart - you can't see the rain nor feel the wind and cold - but it was all three!
Alan Jordan and I camped here - just up from the Linn of Dee - to shelter from the storm.
Morning coffee in Mar Lodge.
One day this could be .......... the National Trust's.
Guess where?
On the way to Stan and Bill's.
The legend - Bill.
Unfortunately, I left later in the morning to head for Carn an Sagaint Mor.........and beyond.
Jock's Road is there somewhere.
Lochnagar
Lochnagar - the mountain.
En-route to Spittal of Glenmuick
Home at Sheilin of Mark
Shielin of Mark bothy.
The campsite at Sheilin of Mark. They were, nearly, all asleep when I arrived at 2030!
The way towards the Wirren Hills. Only two went this way, I think. The weather may have had something to do with that. It was 'orrible going over the Wirren's!
A safe haven after the Wirren experience. There were no photos of the experience because it was wet, windy, cold and lacked in visability!
'ere Ermintrude - you got your camera?
North Water Bridge campsite is somewhere down this road.
The Wirren Hills.
The long and not winding road
same road......other way
Somewhere under the rainbow.
Now, where's mine?
Germany?
Nearly there.
Oh No! Do I have to walk all the way down there?
Montrose is over there.
Cool!
Montrose is the other way
Yes, this way.
Me on a bad hair day.
Mobile home rolls into Montrose.
Before the gathering.
The spider at the centre of his web.
Nigel Ellis at the Bombay Delight.
Alistair Hunt at the Bombay Delight. (the other swimmer)
Kate Foley at the Bombay Delight.
Andy Howell ... guess where?
And ..........Jon Hancock.
Mick Blackburn and Jon at BBD.
Lynn Paquette at ...............Bombay Dreams - which seemed remarkably like Bombay Delight.... but the beer did go down well!
Mick and Gayle at Bombay Dreams....... just round the corner from............ ok, it was always Bombay Dreams!
Ode to a Challenger
Pat Deane and Jon. (Pat was one of the swimmers at Loch Cruoshie's outflow!)
Little did I know that I was on the top table!
Looks like a sea of red - must be Man U?
Now, which way was that cuckoo?
Alan Hardy does the business at HQ.
Did I ever tell you the story about these folk who walked from one side to the other........... of Scotland?
Go through this and you enter a different World.
