Auckland Flaming Food Competition 2008

Auckland Region Flaming Food Competition - teams made up of 8 girls, each including Pippins, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers competed to cook a two course meal outside over gas. The winners, Blockhouse Bay District, went on to the Zone Finals at Ambury Park Saturday 20th September 2008 at Auckland Guide Centre

Upper North Zone Centenary Parade, Thinking Day 2008

Auckland Region at the Guiding Centenary parade. Pipins, brownies, guides, rangers, leaders and friends and faily marched up Queen St on Thinking Day weekend, despite the rain, finishing with a rally in Aotea Square, to celebrate 100 years of Guiding in New Zealand. Northlan, North Sore, Auckland, Manukau and Hauraki Regions were represented.

World Thinking Day Dawn Ceremony 2008

Every year Auckland Pippins, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Leaders celebrate Thinking Day with a Dawn ceremony at the top of Mt Eden. The tradition was started by Rahiri Rangers who climbed the hill and had breakfast as the sun rose in 1942. These days different Auckland Ranger units take it in turn to host Thinking Day and we get many Guiding and girl Scouting international visitors, keen to be the first to celebrate Thinking Day with us. Thinking Day, February 22nd, was the birthday of both Lord and Lady Baden Powell, and is a time to think about other Guides and Scouts all around the world.

Eden District Swimming Sports, Thinking Day 2005

Every year Eden has a combined Thinking Day service and Swimming Sports at one of the local schools. This is a long-standing tradition for our District. This year they were held at Edendale School which has two pools so we were able to run the Brownie & Guide races in the two different pools at the same time.
