The original front yard (but most of the bad bushes have been torn out)
Bad grass has been tilled away and posts are starting to be set.
I'm an engineer, it's in my blood to be incredibly precise about things lining up... and being at right angles, etc. I spent quite a bit of time putting down twine to ensure a straight edge.
Bodb Dearg is helping me setup the twine.
I had to pull out some of the original posts (done by someone else) because they weren't in the right places.
Damn, I'm sexy.
I apparently have a lot of pictures of me with twine.
This weekend I finally started putting up the skeleton!
The gap at the corner here is on purpose. We don't want the fence to have any sharp corners, because in Eastern philsophy fence corners are poison arrows pointed at your neighbors. I've devised a neat way to get a rounded corner.
Many hours with a tiny level, Tom's miter saw, and my bad ass drill and this is what you get.
Preemptive Victory pose.
Last board of the skeleton!
The first rounded edges go in!
Rounded edge all done!
The other non-corner corner.
She's a beauty!
One side of the fence has vertical boards and I'm tackling the first board on the curvey part.
Almost done with this last bolt!
The vertical boards are attached to the curve with L brackets, because the curvey boards are two layers of plywood and can't hold a horizontal screw.
One side complete!
The boards on the curve take the longest to install, but once this corner in done I'm gonna tear through installing the next straight part.
Another sided of the fence is complete!
One side left to go which includes the gate
It's dark, but I'm done! (with Phase 2)
All of the vertical boards are complete! Where this section ends, the gate begins.
Hmm... I wonder if this is sturdy.
Let's find out!
Oh yeah baby!
I was SO proud of this because I built the rectangle first, then measured and marked that cross piece and cut it free hand perfectly on the first try. It was poetry.
The final part of the fence, the gate and the last few boards stretching up to the house.
The fence along with the snap dragons.
