Mt. Vernon Kitchen — The kitchen was a separate building, to miminize fire danger. This is the bread oven. Temperature was 'taken' by sticking one's arm (if one was a slave) into the oven.
Mt. Vernon — Undergoing renovation.
Mt. Vernon — Washington's tomb. George is on the right, Martha to the left. Through the door in the back are the remains of some 20 other Washington descendants.
Mt. Vernon — Outside of the tomb. The last Washington to live at Mt. Vernon died early in the civil war, on the wrong side no less.
Mt. Vernon — This is the river access from the main house. I'm assuming that Washington may have descended that very stair case.
