This project started out a couple of years ago when I was inspired by the pictures people like Bence Mate and Mark Hancox produced from man-made reflection pools, specifically designed for photography. Included are a lot of shots from natural pools in a woodland to the west of the the River Wye, but other shots come from man made puddles - David Whistlecraft's Norfolk hide and a drinking pool our village wildlife group have set up in a local woodland. The pictures from the natural pools are less controlled - the angle of the light more often unsatisfactory, bits of the 'landscape' intruding at times and a muddy background! Most of these shots aren't reflections, but the variety of birds (26 species so far) shows that it's not just feeding stations that can draw birds in. Still a project in progress, but one that I feel has proved worthwhile, although Bence and Mark have nothing to fear! For a change I've included the Welsh names and translations - for those taken in Wales.
