Woodland puddles
In recent years I have been taken by the pictures people like Bence Mate and Mark Hancox have produced from man-made reflection pools, specifically designed for photography. I decided to spend a significant amount of my time this Spring trying to get similar shots from some natural pools. Usually my woodland shots are from the Forest of Dean, but this time they are from a woodland on the other side of the River Wye. Being a wild venue the pictures are less controlled - the angle of the light more often unsatisfactory, bits of the 'landscape' intruding at times and a muddy background! Most of the shots aren't reflections, but the variety of birds (24 so far) shows that it's not just feeding stations that can draw birds in. Still a project in progress, but one that I feel has proved worthwhile, although Bence and Mark have nothing to fear! For a change I've included the Welsh names and translations.
