Stations of the Cross at SES

Artwork for the stations of the cross at St. Elizabeth Seton. These are original art work done by artists that live and work in Indonesia. They were sent to Canada to a foundry to be cast in bronze in 2007. They were hung in the Worship Center in October 2007.

Statue of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

See the addition to our Worship Center - newly commissioned statue of our patron saint, Elizabeth Ann Seton. FROM FR. TOM: It is very rewarding to see so many people at prayer in the St. Elizabeth Seton Shrine area. You may have noticed the addition of the beautiful vines on the wall. Like those in the windows, they remind us of our patron’s sorrows and joys. St. Elizabeth Seton had a very painful life with the loss of her children and husband. She also experienced a great deal of isolation when she converted to Catholicism. Her sadness would later turn to joy as she continued to serve others. Nothing could stop her from the love of God. Nothing could stop her from serving God and sharing her life with others. On January 4, 2009, St. Elizabeth Seton’s Feast Day, we will have the blessing of our statue and devotional area. Please stop in the shrine area and seek her intercession for your needs.

Baptismal Font changes 2008

A Baptized person is immersed into the Life, Death and Resurrection of Christ. The symbols of our Font speak to us of this great mystery. The Paschal Candle stands before us as the symbol of Christ who is the Light that we receive at Baptism. The gentle flow of the waters tell us of the life of God that we receive through water by the Holy Spirit. The cross in the lower pool is a constant reminder that we are members of the body of Christ. In Christ, we live and have our being. As the People of God, all that we do is focused upon Him. Please come to these Holy Waters often and bless yourself as you both enter and leave. Use these opportunities as a way of renewing your life as a Baptized person. Touch the water and say “yes” to the Lord who has called you and entered into you. These waters tell us of the life that we have now on earth. They also remind us that Christ has earned for His followers a life that lasts forever.

Statue of Jesus and Chidren

In the Narthex, we now have a new statue of Jesus with children. We were able to acquire this beautiful image from the offices of Relevant Radio in Chicago. The radio company had decided to downsize their office space. This statue came from their former offices. At the present time, I don’t know much about who the artist was that sculpted the original model. The clay mold was then cast in bronze in order to have a durable finish. Our parish has many young children. I hope that they will especially appreciate seeing Jesus embracing those like them. The Egermann family very generously has made this gift to our parish.

Furnishings of Daily Mass Chapel

Our Worship Space continues to be enhanced with many new liturgical items because of the generosity of several people. For awhile now, we have been using the chapel behind the sanctuary area for daily Mass. Thank you to all who have provided for all these new additions to help enhance our worship experience.

Stations of the Cross in the Church

new bronze stations were hung on the walls of the church October 26, 2007 These fourteen images that tell the story of Christ’s Passion and Death, encircle our Worship Space. They are original works of art that were sculpted in clay by an artist in Indonesia. They were then sent to Ontario, Canada where they were cast in bronze. Please note the golden background offsets the darker brown tones of the figures. We are very grateful to all of our parish families for their generosity in donating them.

Blessed Mother Statue

Come to the Lower Level and see our statue of Mary which has been repaired and repainted. Thank you to Don Castro for doing such a beautiful job not only for bringing Mary back to pristine condition, but for constructing a stand to ensure her safety. As you may remember, Don also painted the scenes of our outdoor Stations of the Cross. Mr. Castro is a member of St. Thomas the Apostle and is also involved in the fine arts ministry in his parish. The first two photos are taken in October 2007. All the others were taken in years past.

Cross On Top

On Friday, October 19th, St. Elizabeth Seton was blessed to have the exterior of the Worship Space building completed. When built, it was the intention of the architect and committee to place a cross on top of the building. These plans have been realized as a beautiful cross is now present for all to see. It is an outward sign that this building and its members are dedicated to Christ and live their lives as his followers. Many thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Jim Briggs and family for donating such a generous and beautiful gift. They were responsible for having the cross manufactured and installed.

PJP II Perpetual Adoration Chapel

A beautiful new addition has come to our Adoration Chapel. Mr. Timothy Botts recently added to the chapel a quote from Scripture. He did so in calligraphy on two of the walls. He also added a vine between the words.

Outdoor Stations of the Cross

Please take the opportunity to pray the stations or simply walk the way of the cross. They are located next to the Marian Garden and Gazebo at the east end of the parking lot. Built as a Boy Scout Eagle Project in the summer of 2007, these new stations are a wonderful addition to our parish. They are located next to the Marian Garden and Gazebo at the east end of the parking lot. The fourteen beautiful plaques were hand painted by Mr. Don Castro. A parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle, Mr. Castro has painted numerous images and sets of stations that can be found in many churches and chapels. He is currently working on another set of stations for the Clare at Water Tower, a seniorcitizen high rise being built at Pearson and Rush in Chicago.
