This Picture is from the car to show the whole range that we walked. We started on the left and climbed up the notch about an inch from the right, and walked until we left the picture. Sekenani is on the far right of the picture. This is a neighboring town of Ngoloiloi.
The Start is always exciting.
I was given lessons in what was edible along the way.
This Purple berry is similar to a good huckleberry. We found several small trees loaded with berries. When I started picking the kids each handed me a handful of 'the best' berries. Very sweet and I am not talking about the berries.
We climbed every tree along the way.
I had many request for a "piga pica yangu"! (take my picture!)
Even the Adults had to have a try at this. It was just too much fun.
Some pictures from Kiouks camera.
The water isn't going to last long.
Notice the breath taking views. Google Earth says that we were 6,700 to 6,850 feet on most of the hike. We started and ended at 5,700 foot.
These boys walked upright to reach the end of the 25 foot horizontal limb.
Too funny. Cell phones everywhere, with everyone.
A Herd of very fat Elands. We watched them coming toward us, then they disappeared into the bushes and came back out behind us. Lots of fun. Kids had great comments like, "YUM, that is the best meat...." They cross breed with cows.
Again, I have to love the views. The drop offs and rocks.
This is the highest point of the hike. We can see four ranges in the background.
Sekenani is in the center of the picture, just to the left and above the head of the boy in the red / maroon plaid blanket. This was the half way point. Break time with a Devotions and cookie break.
Another picture, this time from Kaiyuk, showing the opposite side from Sekenani. The Ololomitii gate is on the other side of the ridge.
Hartebeast! They didn't see us, so we tried, with 11 kids, to sneak up on them. FUN!
We are getting closure to home and right about here, Tigus decided to pick up the pace as he is ready to get home! The bark of the branch he is carrying is used to make a health tea for babies.
At the end of the hills, starting the mile long descent to Sekenani. Everyone is tired, but still having fun.
Not too tired to climb one last tree, and look mom, no feet....
The slope behind our house, 15 minutes to go.....
