Kalmar Nyckel's Shallop, Little Key

Little Key is the shallop belonging to the Kalmar Nyckel. Constructed ten years before the ship herself, the shallop was proof that the foundation was organized enough to actually accomplish a goal. Little Key is a highly accurate replica of an early sprit-rigged Dutch shallop, so she is not suitable to meet modern safety requirements regarding life rafts, etc, so she is used for public appearances and educational activities of various sorts. (The ship uses a Zodiac as the ship's boat.)

Kalmar Nyckel : Raising the Fore Yard

It was night, cold, breezy, and starting to sleet and snow as a winter storm came in. We raised the fore yard anyhow. I was heaving around the windlass so I couldn't take pictures while the yard was actually going up, but I have some other shots.
