2013 Business Expo and Taste of Boyne - Boyne Area Chamber of Commerce

A record crowd of 1,400 people attended the Business Expo and Taste of Boyne, visiting 95 booths of local businesses and organizations. A dozen food booths were also featured in the Taste of Boyne, along with beer tasting from Petoskey Brewing Co. and Mackinaw Trail Winery. Event info can be found at http://www.boyneexpo.com. The Pride of Baltimore II visited Boyne City, MI, for the weekend of July 28-31. The crew conducted ship's tours and took guests on several two-hour sails around Lake Charlevoix.

Boyne Area Chamber Business Expo and Taste of Boyne, 2011

Chiropractor Ryan Moskal opens office in Boyne City MI

The Boyne Area Chamber and a number of city officials and local residents welcomed Chirporactor Ryan Moskal of Quality of Life Family Chiropractic with a ribbon cutting ceremony when he opened his new office at 203 River St. on Jan. 24. Dr. Moskal was born and raised in Concord, Michigan, and graduated from Central Michigan University with a B.S. in Rehabilitation and Health Fitness. Ryan went on to graduate school where he received a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He previously worked for Harless Family Chiropractic" in Dundee MI, and has now opened his own office in Boyne City.

Boyne Area Chamber Annual Meeting 2011

The Boyne Area Chamber Annual meeting attracted a crowd of 250 people to Boyne Mountain on Jan. 20, 2011. The Chamber presented 7 awards to business and community leaders. The unexpected highlight of the meeting was a fund-raising effort by Randy Flinn and Jim White, which raised $50,000 to buy the old Masons Building as a new Community Center.

Business After Hours and Main Street Award Celebration - Boyne Area Chamber

This Business After Hours featured a special celebration recognizing the Boyne City Main Street Program's state awards. The celebration was co-hosted by Local Flavor and Boyne Country Provisions. BCP announced that it has leased the adjacent vacant space next to Local Flavor (formerly occupied by All-American Tattoo), and will be expanding to open a wine, cheese and gourmet foods shop. The expanded Boyne Country Provisions is expected to open in December. The celeb celebration was held to recognize the fact that Boyne City was named Michigan's Main Street Program of the Year, and Catt Development's One Water building was named Project of the Year recently at the Michigan Downtown Conference in Bay City.

Tall Ships 8-10-2010

Two tall ships visited the One Water Marina in Boyne City on Aug. 10. They are staying for the day and leaving in the morning of Aug. 11. No public tours are conducted but a steady stream of people walked out on the dock to get a close-up view of the ships. The larger ship is the Pride of Baltimore II and the smaller schooner is the Lynx.

Old City Park dedication

The City of Boyne City conducted a dedication ceremony at Old City Park preceding the July 7 Evenings at the Gazebo concert. The ceremony celebrated improvements made to the park, including new sidewalks, fountain, landscaping, sprinkler system, additional parking and removal of overhead power lines. A special guest at the dedication was Gloria Barden, whose father Gordon Flodquist built the park's gazebo to honor his wife (and Gloria's mother) Nellie. The "Honey" wooden sign at the gazebo refers to Nellie Flodquist. City officials are shown here unveiling a refurbished historical plaque at the park. On hand in addition to Gloria Barden were Mayor Chuck Vondra, City Commissioner Mike Cummings, City Commissioner Dan Adkison, Main Street manager Hugh Conklin and Parks and Recreation Commission members Paul Nicholls and Susan Conklin, and City Manager Mike Cain.

The Great Morel Giveaway

Here are photos of the winners of the first Great Morel Giveaway, held as part of the 50th National Morel Mushroom Festival on May 15, 2010. Two pounds of morel mushrooms were given to the each of 26 winners at 26 downtown Boyne City stores. Thanks to Tony Williams of Freshwater Studio for organizing this fun event, which finished with the “Morel Mob” marching through the streets for the drawings at each location.

Boyne City's Indoor Farmers Market

The Boyne City Farmers Market has moved indoors for the month of November on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 126 Water Street, the former Kiss Carpet building. A holiday market will also be held the day before Thanksgiving (Nov. 25) - so you can pre-order fresh pies and turkeys.

Antique Auto Show & Flea Market

The Antique Auto Show is held on the second weekend of August in Veterans Park on the shores of Lake Charlevoix in beautiful downtown Boyne City MI. The auto show is sponsored by the Boyne Country Region of the Antique Automobile Clubs of America, and the Flea Market is produced by Boyne Area Chamber of Commerce.
