Belur Trip - IBM Photography Club
These pictures were taken at Belur Channakesava temple built in 11th century. This temple has the unique architecture of Hoysala kings. They chose to build the temples in different shapes deviating from the square shapes adopted by most South Indian temples. The temple has exquisite three dimensional carvings done in great detail. The carvings were made of Soap Stone that is soft in nature when dug out but solidifies on interacting with the atmosphere. Thanks to the IBM Photography Club team: Sisir, Venu, Arvind, Vinod, Vishal and Amar (who could not join).
