Sketch done for the 6th strip. I often rely on large scale sketches and then scan them in an treat them digitally.
Sketches for the 7th strip. I wasn´t happy with the original "German Player" and did an alternative version below, which I ended up using-
An example of a sketch page on my desk. I keep white paper, pencil & pen always handy in case I have an idea. In this page are most of the basis for the 9th strip.
Sketches for the 10th strip, with some alternative cats.
Example of composite sketches for the 11th strip (I was lazy and hand-drawn the whole thing... :P) . First came the Brummbar.
...Then came the Pot handle...
...Finally came the Tea Tag (which ended up being rubbish and I did a different version for the final version... :P).
Alternative Santa for the 12th strip. The problems with the 12th strip (see caption on corresponding comic) ended up me even forgetting this alternative version. Looks cooler than the one I ended up using. Bah... :(
Sketches for the 13th Strip - on a good day, everything comes together quickly and I get to an almost finished state in minutes (as was the case in this one). There must have been a total of 2 good days so far :P :D
The whole final "black-traced" sketch for the 14th strip before entering "digital post-production". Lots of pencil sketches where lost when I passed a rubber over the whole thing to leave me only with the penned bits. Mental note: scan sketches as they evolve to keep a log of my work.
A relatively simple comic can have the sketch go through several stages before I can consider it final. This was the first version of the "pimped up puma" in strip #18.
Some correction done over the original sketch...
Traced in black and pencil erased, it´s ready for digital composition and coloring.
Sketch, 19th strip: Another sketch that came out almost right the first time around :) The american got an head swap in the final version.
I tried blue for these sketches, as it is easier to control contrast & brightness once I scan them in. The final result were somewhat softer lines. Not too happy - must get myself a blue sketching pencil.
Same sketch with pencil lines erased - this one´s ready to be imported for digital coloring.
A 2nd page of sketches for strip #20. These sketches are for squares #2 nd #3
