First picture I took, right by the water, central spot. Here's the old crane tower off of which kids used to dive. Crazy to think about. It must be 30 feet high or more. Or at least it was, since about 5 years ago they knocked it down, precisely because at least one kid was killed that way.
Here's the crane arm, now at the base of the tower and half-submerged in water.
And here's the main body of the thing. To give you some idea of how tall it was. Also... the top is broken off and fallen somewhere to the side, out of view.
Base of the crane-tower. I just thought this looked cool.
Ah, there we go. You can see the whole thing in this shot. Taken from the left-side cliff top.
As I was in the woods, on the path leading to the cliff top on the left, I came across this nifty fire-pit.
I also came across this one. Not a pit, just embers.
Up on the right-side cliff, there are these two broken-off poles just sticking up out of the rock. This one looks like it was set on fire once upon a time. Ross has taken up woodcarving, and I want him to carve these two poles into faces. Would take forever though... Maybe I should do it.
Graffiti on the left bank of the water.
Graffiti straight across the water. Notice the black tombstone, in memoriam of one of the kids who died trying to dive here.
Same spot, slightly better angle.
Also straight across the water, a little to the right of the last shot. Not just for the boobs... notice the one that has the crossed-out (as in No Smoking) "OCD". What's up with that?
This stuff again.
A closeup of the near side of the right cliff, where most of the graffiti is. You can see it's pretty much layered over itself in most places. I particularly like "Back 2 Good".
The higher portion of the same wall. "Soak Your Dong In Ur Bong" has a special place in my heart.
Slightly to the left of the last shot, also on the main graffiti-wall. It's much too big for one shot.
Another memorial, just below the last shot, and to the left of the "Got Dope."
Who Killed Kenny? Also, a big blue 9/11 memorial.
Just a closer shot of stuff I think you already saw.
Near the entrance.
Off to the right, just a little way back from the main wall. Canada, huh? Also, you can see some runes tucked away near the bottom left corner.
The back edge of the right-side wall, hidden behind the corner. I photographed it from the left-side ledge. Not a lot of graffiti, but the eagle at the bottom bears the caption "U.S. Postal Service" of all things, and near the top, written in red, you'll see "Freedom Fighters."
The main graffiti wall again. For a good time, call... :>
"Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers." I think it's the cutest graffiti ever.
Yep, redundant.
Again redundant?
Aha! The topmost ledge on the right side. Giant marijuana leaf, complex colors, really quite pretty. Also, Ross from the shoulders down.
I don't know what this was supposed to be, but it reminded me of a Chinese official ink seal. A "chop," that's what it's called.
I don't know who JC and PL are, but they heart. Also, there's a mushroom. In case you missed it.
I don't know what the K means... but I don't know what "Losier Slut" means either.
Some nice graffiti. "We Were Here" and "Stay Alert, Stay Alive" Good advice.
This shot didn't come out as well as I might have hoped. Here's the very cool Pyramid-Eye YinYang DaVinci Man that sits by the path by the entrance.
Here's a better shot. Above his head it reads "The Choice is Yours" though it's worn down so it looks like "The Choice is You" which I like better. There is an Eye of Ra by his left foot (right) and a Star of David by his right (left). To his right side, there is a white cross, and to his left there is a black Ankh. The ankh and most of the star of david aren't visible because of all the gravel and dirt that were coating this thing.
Apparently the water level rose a bit, because some of the graffiti was underwater.
I was able to get a more complete shot of the big graffiti wall from the far side cliff.
From the top of the right side, the diving spot. I think "Hutch" is the name of one of the guys who died, and the other part says "jump here." I didn't get a picture of it, but the next ledge below says, "Life's a trip."
"Jesus Loves," back and center.
A full panorama-shot of the quarry, as seen from just above water-level, by the entrance path
High on a ledge overlooking the quarry, to the left of the entrance.
Same ledge, looking back down the mountainside this time. Mis-cropped this, apparently.
Panorama, from high up on the right-side cliff off of which folks sometimes dive. *shudder*
A nice panorama from high up on the left-side cliff.
Lousy shot, was far too backlit. It was taken from down below, and features Ross at the top of the left-side cliff.
Check it out. Norse runes. Unfortunately, they say "Alabama." Go figure.
The rusted thingie and a bunch of graffiti right next to what I think of as the central platform, by the edge of the water (looking left and back).
Another one taken from high up on the left cliff. This is a rusted wheel mechanism of some sort that was hidden behind one of the piles of granite rubble.
Just a little pile of brush and a some rusted scrap metal by the entrance path.
This is the biggest and most intact peice of old machinery there, and it's right by the entrance. Photo taken from above, on the left side.
Closer view of the rusted machinery thingie. That graffiti looks really, really old, so it either refers to Bush Sr. or is a sexual euphemism. I suspect there was another component to it, once upon a time.
You can see how far away from the rusted thingie I actually was.
I think I took too many pictures of this.
And this is a big stick we found by the path. We cut it down to a manageable size and I carried it with me. I want to clean it, carve it, and turn it into a staff. I love the gnarled roots at the top.
Full-size shot of the staff-to-be. Also, you can see some of the graffiti in what I like to think of as the central spot.
I found this one a bit out of the way, on the left side. Amazing bit...
There was even graffiti on the crane tower. I think this says, "Hayley is a cock whore." I tell you, some of this shit is real deep.
Another bit of very artistically compelling graffiti on the crane tower.
A view from part way up.
This one got messed up somehow. I have no idea how... but I really liked that little root structure in the picture, and I like to think the wood-spirit didn't like being photographed.
Panoramic shot from the top on the left side.
Another panorama, from the not-quite top of the left side.
Took this as I was about to run out of battery life. A filthy little pond and a graffiti YinYang on the top of the right cliff. There was a lot of interesting stuff up here, but sadly my batteries died before I could capture much of it.
