Hotel in Narita, Japan
This match was the first thing that came on the TV. I so wish I had seen this in real life.
A 14-hour flight makes you look like this.
Narita, Japan.
The streets in Narita were eerily empty. We think it was because they saw Americans coming and went inside to hide from our swine flu.
Sometimes you just want the comforts of home...
This one's for you, Tay.
When we landed in Japan they made us put on these masks and someone came through the airplane with a thermal scanner. Those masks are sufficating!
Pictures of the King are EVERYWHERE in Thailand.
View from the hotel in Bangkok.
Our very first tuk-tuk ride. We're smiling here as it was before we got ripped off...
First wat that we visited in Bangkok.
You weren't allowed in but could sit and listen to the monks chanting.
The view on the tuk-tuk.
These children were waiting to go inside and get blessed by a monk who was having his 80th birthday.
United Nations building in Bangkok.
This was our driver for most of the day.
These people shoved popcorn kernels in our hands. The birds naturally started flocking to us. It freaked me out so I put mine on the ground. Odie, however, was up for the challenge.
You want a tuk-tuk?? I give you good price...
Odie asking for directions from a monk. Classic.
Khao San Road. Or Thailand's Broadway as Odie liked to call it.
This is Nuncy. He was our cooking instructor.
At the market picking out our food for the day.
Grinding up coconut.
Being in Bangkok is hot. Cooking outside over a hot wok is even hotter.
First meal that we made. Look mom, I can cook!
Our cooking class.
Hotel in Chiang Mai.
Crazy boy.
The room that we all got massages in. A Thai massage = ouch.
Our day at the elephant farm in Chiang Mai.
The elephant's leg is SO prickly. It really hurt to sit there.
Look how strong those tusks are!
Who knew elephants liked soccer?
An elephant painted this. Incredible.
Beginning of our elephant rides.

Feeding our elephant sugar cane.
Hello, we're tourists.
I know, awesome. It was SO hot, I had to have this umbrella.
This fruit was awesome.
Long-necked women.
Fresh coconut.
Authentic Pad Thai. I've decided I like American Thai food better. Naturally.
Thai-style kickboxing. It was intense. You can use your elbows and you can kick.
Tim and Amy bought this candy in Taiwan. It provided many a laugh.
Each building in Thailand has a mini replica of it outside. This is the one for our hotel in Chiang Mai. They give offerings to ward off any evil spirits in the building.
Our hotel in Chiang Mai.
I believe Odie was trying to recreate a scene from Rocky.
306 steps to the top.
You weren't supposed to walk in this room and had to do a crawl sort of movement.
This monk was spraying holy water on everyone in the crowd.
Monk who was putting string bracelets on people and blessing them.
Amy wanted in on the blessings.
Random.
The boys tried to play "Come, Come Ye Saints" on the bells. I don't think they made it through the first line.
We spent a lot of time in transit.
Hotel in Phuket, Thailand's largest island.
These banana pancakes were so tasty.
The beach!
The ultimate surfer.
This is what I did. Notice the 70 SPF. Even that couldn't keep me from burning. The Thai sun is INTENSE.
All the photo taking was worth it in this moment.
Seriously? Aren't there rules against this?
The Thai mini-van.
Watching the sun set in Phuket.
My first fresh coconut! And probably my last. I wasn't a huge fan.
On our boat ride to the James Bond island.
The "James Bond Island." Odie isn't happy here as right before this a woman was yelling at me for looking at her goods and not buying. Not cool.
We went on a raft tour. So neat!
Mango trees.
You had to lay down here to get through.
Floating village where I got an awesome fresh-water pearl ring for $3.
These monkeys were crazy. I'm so glad I have a husband who will do the crazy things I don't want to.
Cute!
This reclining Buddha was in a cave. It was so cool.
The entire trip resulted in an obsession with Odie and baby elephants. You can buy one in Thailand for $3,500. We're already starting to save.
