TAILS Gift Wrapping @ Barnes & Noble-Westport - SUCCESS! :)

Thanks to a small group of dedicated volunteers, TAILS was able to raise nearly $400 by wrapping books on Christmas Eve at Barnes & Noble in Westport, CT. We will be able to save many animals with this money by simply spay/neutering! Many thanks to our volunteers and to Barnes & Noble-Westport who not only invited us in but supplied all of the supplies as well - rock on! :) Love animal-friendly businesses! Happy 2012 everyone!

Pictures with Santa at PetSmart-Norwalk! :)

After becoming a PetSmart Partner on Friday, we kicked off our relationship with a Santa photo event on Sunday at PetSmart in Norwalk. Was a lot of fun - holiday spirit and pets - does it get better? :) Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us through their photo purchases and donations - and an especially big thanks to PetSmart who provided us with everything we needed to make the day a success!

TAILS Dog Adoption Days @ Petco, March 12th & 13th, 2011

A GREAT WEEKEND!!! Thanks to everyone - adopters, volunteers, supporters - who made this event such a success! We started with 31 dogs and ended up placing 26 into terrific, forever homes, 3 went into foster, 1 went to another no-kill rescue and 1 went back to GA (to Colbert Veterinary Rescue - a no kill - so he'll be fine!). TAILS Puppy Palooza II

Thanks to everyone who made TAILS Puppy Palooza a success! From the rescuers in Georgia to the event volunteers and adopters in Connecticut - - we did an amazing thing the second weekend in December. It is not often that you can save 51 puppies/dogs and 4 cats over the course of a mere 48 hours. Overall, 38 canines were placed in homes and an additional 13 went to foster or WASA/Westport Animal Control. These 51 placements opened up the equivalent number of slots in shelters where new dogs can now find refuge - in essence we saved 102 dogs that weekend. Thank you, again, to everyone! There are also pictures in our public Picasa file that show the Pilots N Paws fly in which shuttled 9 of the dogs at our event to Puppy Palooza - so check it out! :)

Pilots N Paws Rescue Flights!

Who knew dogs could fly? These lucky 9 canines didn't fly themselves though - they had five angels fly them here. Four planes with 4 volunteer pilots and one co-pilot flew three separate legs from Athens, GA, to Bridgeport, CT the weekend before TAILS Puppy Palooza event. The flights enabled the three organizations from the south to open up 9 more spaces for dogs on their trailer to bring up to our event, raised awareness and shortened the stress of travel on these pups. A HUGE thank you to the pilots who donated their time (most of a day!), their planes, their energy and their fuel to help rescue 9 furry friends! Pictures were taken by PNP pilots and rescue organization volunteers.

TAILS Wags To Witches Party!

A howlin' good time was had by all at the Wags To Witches Halloween party held in Westport to benefit TAILS. Nearly 60 people gathered, in costume, and enjoyed the tricks and treats of the season. Thanks to everyone who came - we look forward to making this an annual event! What fun!!

TAILS - Blessing of the Animals

TAILS was invited by the Stevens Memorial United Method Church and Sitting Pretty Dog Training to bring along our animals available for adoption at their event held Sunday, May 23rd at their church in South Salem, NY. Joining us were Strays & Others (New Canaan) and WASA (Westport) - two fellow, great shelters who share our desire to save animals. It was a great day! Interest was made on a couple of our dogs and even if they do not get placed based on today - that the word spreads on all of these terrific dogs and forever homes are found soon! TAILS Pet Fest

WOW. What a weekend! We saved 109 dogs this weekend - 65 were adopted and 44 went to local no kill shelters! A total of 130 puppies/dogs had come up from the no-kill rescue called Colbert Veterinary Rescue based in GA to our event at Best Friends in Norwalk, CT. (The remaining 21 dogs who were not adopted are safe at CVR until the next event!) A HUGE thanks to our volunteers and to Best Friends who, again!, went above and beyond what anyone could have expected!

TAILS Puppy Palooza

WHAT a great event! Thanks to everyone for making this event such a success! We saved 99 puppies and dogs the weekend of January 8-10, 2010!
