The view from my hotel in the day.
Remarkables.
More Remarkables.
They're called The Remarkables, supposedly, because it was remarkable that they're aligned directly North-South.
Walking path on the Queenstown side of the lake. In front of my hotel.
That's where I stayed. Not bad, and cheap in the off-season.
Taking the gondola up to the Skyline building above Queenstown.
That's where I'm headed.
Queenstown from the Skyline building.
The road to Arrowtown and Wanaka. (plus a chairlift to a glider & luge place)
Queenstown and the lake.
Looking south. Queenstown suburbs, in the direction of Glenorchy where I drive later.
Better view of the Arrowtown road. That's my escape route from Queenstown two days from this.
New mountains on the way to Glenorchy.
The weather was spotty.
More mountains. The guide-book (Fodors) really hyped the drive, so it's to be expected.
That's where I'm headed: If you look closely, you can see the road on the right.
My Nissan posing in front of the mountains.
The place was stupid with mountains.
Here we are. Paradise.
There wasn't much to the town. I'm standing on the dock.
Correction. Almost on the dock.
The other direction. There's horseback riding, jeep tours, and boat tours, and that's it.
South from Glenorchy. There's still one more town further down, but I'm not going there.
And that's it for the day. Enough mountains.
