Granite covered for safety, and walls prepped.
The first two rows down, so much more to go...
Shari and Lisa starting the next row.
Darrell taking a break, Shari getting the hard to reach corner.
The stove side is finished. Tumbled Troy travertine is a natural stone and has a lot of nice color and surface variation to it.
We're almost done.
A tile job of any size demands a blue-collar beer. Too bad it's not football season yet.
12 hours later, job is done. Man, were we exhausted. Tiling is not overly difficult but requires a lot of patience and time. This was our first time, after all.
Fast forward 3 days and the grout is magically finished. Lisa and I tackled this one ourselves, and it's a bit nerve wracking, since you can really screw up the tile job at this point. It turned out AWESOME though.
Working in less than 20% humidity, the grout dries quickly so you must work fast. Lisa followed with the sponge, and really did the hard work.
