His and hers. Endee, NM.
I guess it was part of a motel at one point?
The post office. Glenrio, TX.
Interior of the post office.
An old, abandoned gas station.
Front view of the gas station.
Someone left the doors open.
The Longhorn Motel and Cafe.
Cafe interior.
Cafe interior (compare to postcard).
A postcard of the Longhorn when times were better and I-40 did not exist. Sometime in the 60s judging by the VW van.
Another cafe interior shot.
The motel.
Appropriate for the time of year, it's Steve and Eydie, "Happy Holiday".
It feels good being bad at the Cadillac Ranch.
For years I've passed the Cadillac Ranch on my way to Amarillo from Tucumcari. For Lisa and me, this was our very first visit. It really was the best year ever, Lisa!
Lisa, me, and the boys. Puppy and "Oscar" both love cow to play with and eat cow patties. Ugh.
Robin and Collin decided to come to the ranch with us after lunch.
Robin is surprisingly a good tagger.
Over the years, quite a few coats of paint have been applied to the caddies.
Underbody.
Trunk. Duh.
A great Italian appliance.
Apparently, they're supposed to be at the same angle as the great pyramids. Dunno, seems a bit steep.
Late in the day.
Best friends.
On our way back to Albuquerque, we stopped by the long abandoned gas station and motor court on old Rt. 66 between San Jon and Tucumcari.
The roof/awning dropped a long time ago.
Can't tell if these are tin shingles or not, but they are definitely metal.
The date on this concrete base for the gas pump is October 7th, 1951.
The last remaining pump.
Interior of the station.
Another interior shot. Appears many a teenager has partied here.
Last interior shot. Lots of rat droppings.
"Geez, can we go home already?"
