Day 1 - Tuesday - Drywall removed, no water damage other than some fragile drywall from damage long time ago. That's great news! Also, we added another 6 inches to width of shower when we removed the false wall they installed to match old shower pan.
Day 1 - Tuesday - The plumbing behind the wall. Plumbing to be redone to allow for a double sink vanity.
Day 1 - Tuesday - The old shower valve.
Day 1 - Tuesday - Shower head is too low, we'll be raising that up about 6 inches or so.
Day 1 - Tuesday - Shower plumbing complete, pretty simple job apparently. The shower head is now about 6-8 inches higher.
Day 1 - Tuesday - New drain installed. Fortunately, previous owners had already dug a hole for us, saving some time and money.
Day 1 - Tuesday - Ready for the new vanity.
Day 1 - Tuesday - New valves throughout.
Day 1 - Tuesday - The shower plumbing.
Day 2 - Wednesday - Cutting a hole for the pocket door. Cement board going up in shower.
Day 2 - Wednesday - Another view of pocket door hole.
Day 2 - Wednesday - Front view.
Day 2 - Wednesday - Cement board completed, first mud poured, and the shower bench installed.
Day 2 - Wednesday - The shower bench.
Day 2 - Wednesday - Valve and shower head.
Day 2 - Wednesday - The outlets will be moved just below the vanity surface and will be GFI protected.
Day 2 - Wednesday - Pocket door frame installed.
Day 2 - Wednesday - Front view with pocket door frame in place.
Day 3 - Thursday - Re-routed wiring.
Day 3 - Thursday - Re-routed wiring, close-up.
Day 3 - Thursday - The original wiring stays, and I now know where the phone line comes in at.
Day 3 - Thursday - It's a remodel, so unfortunately we'll have this junction box in the ceiling.
Day 3 - Thursday - View from inside the bathroom.
Day 3 - Thursday - In the closet is the circuit for the whirlpool that will be going in the main bath, hanging out until we start that remodel in a few weeks.
Day 3 - Thursday - A closeup of the tub wiring.
Day 3 - Thursday - The outlets occupied the space where the pocket door frame now resides.
Day 3 - Thursday - The GFI circuit in place.
Day 3 - Thursday - The new exhaust fan. We planned on moving it over the toilet, but a support beam was in the way, so it was decided to keep it put.
Day 3 - Thursday - The two switches on the right were on the wall we removed, and they'll control the exhaust fan and fan light. The dimmer on the left will control the wall sconces.
Day 3 - Thursday - No more dangling wiring. Progress! But lots of dry wall work to be done.
Day 4 - Friday - RedGard applied.
Day 5 - Wednesday - Not much happened the last two days, just another RedGard application. Today, though, drywall going up.
Day 5 - Wednesday - More drywall.
Day 5 - Wednesday - More RedGard has been applied, and another layer of mud.
Day 5 - Wednesday - The nicho has been roughed in.
Day 5 - Wednesday - Pocket door wall covered.
Day 6 - Thursday - Getting the drywall finished.
Day 6 - Thursday - Tile finally going up. However, the complete tile order didn't make it in, so Raul had to stop at this point, where the deco would be going up.
Day 6 - Thursday - 1/8" grout lines.
Day 6 - Thursday - Some finish work still needed under the seat. That's one hell of a sturdy seat, too.
Day 6 - Thursday - Drywall is kind of boring.
Day 7 - Friday - Making progress, as nearly all the tile was delivered this morning, including tile for main bathroom. However, travertine is still missing.
Day 7 - Friday - The decorative trim. Glass, marble, and travertine. A nice little touch.
Day 7 - Friday - The shower pan floor is mosaic tile. Very nice.
Day 7 - Friday - Got lucky here as the deco runs exactly across the top of the nicho. Raul the tile guy was quite pleased.
Day 8 - Monday - Shower walls completed.
Day 8 - Monday - Travertine floors! My favorite I think. We love the variation in the stone.
Day 8 - Monday - Travertine in the closet, too. We've already purchased the closet organizers, those I'll install in a few weeks.
Day 9 - Tuesday - The bull nose edging along wall and pan finished. However, the toilet rough in looks too close to the shower we realize...
Day 9 - Tuesday - The nicho is coming along nicely.
Day 9 - Tuesday - Detail of the bull nose edging.
Day 10 - Wednesday - Two different grouts were used, one for walls, another for floors, but they are similar in their neutrality. Most of the smooth coating is complete, too.
Day 11 - Thursday - Ok, so problems do occur, no remodel is perfect. The toilet hole was too close to the shower due to the new, wider shower pan. So, hole had to be moved about 7 inches. That's why you buy extra tile in case issues like this pop up.
Day 11 - Thursday - Plumber also added the shower trim. Simple elegant fixture, nothing fancy.
Week 5 - Ok, the reason for lack of updates: The vessels on our master vanity are mismatched, and are waiting on replacements. Plus, waiting on lighting fixture to arrive. Nothing really to take pics of! But you can see the freshly painted wall at least.
Week 5 - The frameless doors arrive 3 days early! Huzzah! Good news at last. They are beautiful.
Week 5 - All chrome hardware.
Week 5 - Ok, now it's MY turn to do some work, and you're looking at day one's work, getting the closet towers in. MDF sucks, and it took 9 hours to get these up. Tomorrow, I'll complete the project. The contractor people need to patch that hole up there.
Week 5 - Spacious little creatures these are. Color complements the vanity nicely.
Week 5 - Self closing drawers, nice little touch. I had to notch the back of the towers to fit around the tile trim so that it sat flush against the back wall.
Week 5 - Added shelf and bars.
Week 5 - Another shelf, more bars.
Week 6 - The light bar. Nice, bright xenon lamps.
Week 6 - Plumbing completed, master bath is done.
Week 6 - Bowl fiasco is over, we have matching vessels. The vanity is gorgeous.
Week 6 - Buy your faucets online, you'll save quite a bit of money.
Week 6 - The light bar is all chrome and opal glass.
Week 6 - Exposed plumbing, looks pretty!
Week 6 - Closet interior.
Week 6 - View from closet into bath.
Lisa and I finished painting the pocket door wall ourselves.
Lisa had the right idea for the accent wall. Wow, huge difference. Loving it!
