The entrance to the amphitheater.
The 1985 dedication.
We found some old programs and tickets inside.
Approaching the picnic area and main entrance to the actual amphitheater.
They used to serve BBQ nightly. Nice views from the northern edge of the picnic area.
The back of the amphitheater. Those 4x8 sections on top of the roof were designed to dampen the wind noise. Never worked as expected.
I remember this set being built in 1987. You can see most of it is still standing, but barely. The orchestra section of seating is long gone.
This is where I worked. The blue box contains some electronic dimmers. Couldn't tell if the lighting console was inside or not. Inside that doorway is a roomful of abandoned lighting equipment.
Utterly shocking, they left behind the mixing board. These things do not come cheap, probably $15k-$20k, my guess. Why didn't they donate to a college or something? Still sitting here 21 years later.
From the orchestra, a shot of the booth.
One of the two lighting towers. Two spot lights used to sit atop them, kinda interesting when it was stormy outside.
At one-time a useful Tascam reel-to-reel, now simply abandoned backstage, what a waste.
This upright piano is no longer upright. Found near the Tascam.
Backstage looking at the berm
Nice shot of (what's left of) the entire complex.
Another shot of the set.
For whatever reason, someone found a need to pull the dimmers from the base of each tower, but left a lot more equipment behind (lighting instruments, followspots, consoles).
One of the many wind turbines part of the Caprock Wind Farm, formerly Caprock Amphitheater.
