Last Dollar Road (Telluride, CO)

The Last Dollar Road outside Telluride, CO. Spectacular views, rolling meadows, and lots of wild plants and deer. Absolutely beautiful, and a very easy ride, except maybe the last mile when you descend into State Road 145, at which point it gets a bit more challenging, but not by a whole lot.

Yankee Boy Basin (Ouray, CO)

Our first real off-road adventure with the new Wrangler, we decided on the "moderate" trail called Yankee Boy Basin. It was mostly easy, but that rock overhang and narrow dirt trail with steep drop-offs takes one's vertigo to a new level.

A nice day trip to the San Mateo mountains. Unfortunately, Forest Road 330 at 8000' is not suitable in a downpour with a two-wheel drive vehicle. Turned around and checked out Ladron Peak again, and to see if the Rio Salado was crossable.

Geronimo Trail Scenic Byway

Our (somewhat) harrowing journey on Forest Service Road 150, a 46-mile stretch of muddy, snowy, and occasionally tree-blocked dirt road. It is a part of the Geronimo Trail Scenic Byway in the Gila National Forest running from Beaverhead to State Highway 35.
