Old city cemetery in Rockwood was an eyesore - turned into a [quote] lovely 'Memorial Park'[end quote]; in the 1960s. Pioneer Citizens Listed at Memorial Park article gives some background about the Old Rockwood City Cemetery and the city's justification for closing it. Several Roane County surnames are in the article and include WILSON, HOLLSTEIN, PUTNAM, INGRAM, TARWATER. FICKEY [? HICKEY], TAUSCHER, SUDDATH, McNUTT, McELWEE, BAKER, and WARNER.
