The usual shot leaving town in the morning.
Over Interstate 172 -- whoever heard of I172???
And out “Main Street USA” with the standard fare of stores.
Old church in little town of Liberty Ill.
Judy approaches the bridge across the Ill River. Road all day with Judy and Chuck in tight quick pace line on the flattening roads as we headed east through Ill.
Notice the Lorean papparazzi standing in the pick=up truck filming. Different vehicle, same two guys.
Looking out over the Illinois River
Quite the old bridge -- the guy who built this had an Erector set as a kid.
A power plant along the Illinois River.
I liked the color to lighten up this old school building a bit.
Judy leads the pace line.
Lots of flat Illinois corn fields. -- Illinois is known for its corn so I decided I would get up close and personal to it rather than just flying by the roadways.
... so here is a corn field up close
I waded into a corn filed so I could get this shot out through the corn to the road where I parked the bike.
Looking down between two rows of cord inmidst the field.
Close up of the growing ear on this plant.
As you can see, I am really enjoying the sight of all this corn
Made it to SPringfield, the capital city of Illinois and immediately sought out the bike shop to replace the biking shorts I had ruined today.
Approaching the capital building in downtown Springfield.
Another angle on the capital building.
Jack (waving), Sean and Tom enjoying lunch in downtown Spingfield. This shot of Tom actually having lunch before he gets to the motel will someday be a collectors item.
And because those guys stop for lunch, I got to sign in first today. :-)
