Honeymoon - Ethiopia
For the first part of our honeymoon, Maegan and I did volunteer work in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We helped a Seattle-based NGO, http://bluenile.org to open a community health clinic to serve the poor of suburban Addis, especially orphaned children sponsored by the group. Maegan led a group of mostly American physicians and nurses to work in the clinic and share knowledge with local providers. I made myself useful by constructing shelves and helping with general logistics of finishing the facility. It was definitely work, but it was also really fun -- getting to know the other docs, solving problems, getting deep inside the culture. More at http://bluenilemissions.blogspot.com/
