Packing up
At the end of the camp, the tents need to be taken down and everything packed in time up to be ready for the helicopter on the last morning. Biffies and slop pits are filled in. Garbage is double bagged, flown out and trucked to the dump. A sweep is done of the camp area to check for any equipment or refuse left behind.
When two camps are run, the job is made easier since one camp does the setup and another does the takedown. But in 2009, the second week was cancelled at the last minute due to forest fires, so the first week had less time than usual to do the takedown.
Back home, a team of volunteers unloads the truck at the locker, and unrolls the tents to dry if necessary.
