The model is just for exploring where we could place the loveseat in the room; Gwen's expressing a preference for further back so the breadrack bearing her ham station is more accessible.  The positioning you see here was to establish how much walking space there would be entering the room with an extreme forward placement.

We don't use the fireplace much at all. In fact I can't remember the last time...it's been years since it was cleaned and relined, and we've not built a fire in it since then to my recollection. It does have an excellent built-in screen...and glass doors as well. 

Right now we're thinking as far back as will still permit fully reclining the seats. The model does not accurately depict the footrest either; what's shown is notional from the model I cribbed off of 3D Warehouse.

Have to locate the two desktop machines yet too... "
