Transmission Diagnostics Pan Inspection, Magnet Inspection, Filter Break Lots of metal debris and metal smudge found: preliminary diagnostics: A-Clutch Drum and/or A-Clutch Actuator broken This is a typical problem - see here: http://www.freddiestransmissions.com/html/zf_5hp24.html#Damages
partial transmission disassembly
Our initial diagnostics proved to be right: the A-Clutch Drum / Input Shaft is broken (which we will replace with a newer design)

Inspection of Engine and Flywheel The Rear Main Seal (Crankshaft Rear Seal) appears to be leaking
several of the Exhaust Bolts were rusted tight and sheared off (6 of 8 Jaguar-specific bolts and nuts will need to be replaced)
Drive Shaft Flex Disk Inspection
Transmission Heat Exchanger HOT FLUSH The "twitching" of the cooler lines comes from reversing the pump direction, to loosen up all the debris in the fine wire mesh of the transmission cooling device (usually the lower part of the radiator, or a separate transmission cooler). The fluids runs through a filter, and the process is not complete until there are no more particles found in that filter. The whole process takes usually about 2 hours.
