Amazingly this scene is so common. Devastation and a cross or crucifix perfectly intact.
Shot from a high point in island. Its hard to see in the photo but both hillsides were covered with houses built down the slope. All destroyed. If you look closely in the lower middle to left of middle you can see a guy carrying what looks like a sawhorse. These people are so incredibly resilient. They are picking up and trying to re-establish a path to life.

This nurse working on pre-op patient IV and had no light to see if IV as dripping as patient on floor in hallway. That's Al providing light for the nurse.
One patient out of post op and anesthesia recovery. They move patients to "recovery" which is outside on cots or mattresses. This was a patient with a severely broken leg with a screwed brace.
Hospitals really overwhelmed. Pre and post op often on blankets or mats in rooms and hallways.
