Taking a rest in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Fort Collins, Colorado. Breakfast on the street at the Silver Grill Cafe in downtown Fort Collins.
Southern Wyoming: Sand fences, wind power and a highway with lots of trucks.... that's about it.
oh, and this too..
Cruising across southern Idaho , heading northwest toward Boise.
We stopped around midnight at a random park in Cascade, ID and put our sleeping bags out on the grass to sleep. Well, it started raining overnight and I was forced to put my tent up around 3AM. Our morning view in the Idaho mountains and the spot we chose to sleep.
Heading north up through the Salmon River Mountains toward Lewiston, ID
Heading up to Lewiston, ID. A green valley with some amazing low cloud cover in the Salmon River Mountains, Idaho.
Cloud cover along the Salmon River. Heading up to Lewiston, ID.
Nez Perce War, take a read.
To bad the view of the ravine was completely fogged over. We couldn't see a thing.
The highway along the pass and lots of fog prohibiting our scenic view.
Once in Lewiston, ID, it was time to change vehicles... and road grade. It's 4X4 time, over the mountains and into Hells Canyon.
Bumping along the muddy trail.
Over the pass and heading down into Hells Canyon.
Clouds. Grass. Rocks.
Our camp along the Snake River. Photo taken from the top of the camp runway. Runway you ask? Just wait. (photo by Ken Kvamme)
My living space for the next week - not bad, I must say.
The runway from the bottom. I'm telling you.. just wait.
The (icy cold) Snake River. Butch, our boat driver, is taking a look down river.
Me with a fresh comb and shave... ready for work.
It's all done by water...
...and a boat.

Our third survey area - Our camp and associated historic homestead.
Survey in bare feet.. ah, the luxuries. A little turkey poop and fallen cherries between the toes was worth the barefoot survey.. and it was nothing to wash off in the Snake River. (photo by Ken Kvamme)
Looking down the Snake River.
Don't stab the toes! Yes, I was probably listening to something of a heavy variety. (photo by Ken Kvamme)

Me. Up close. Needing a shower.
Ok, So the sunset was cool. I took many pictures.
An old gate close by my tent and a perfect spot for snakes. (I saw at least three)
Water. Boat. Grass. Mountains. Clouds. Sky.
Sand herbs.. next to the sand fleas. Sand fleas are small, the herbs are not.
Turn left at the next shadow.
A spot about 1 mile up river from camp that I found to wash up. This beach spot became my shower area for the week (and was about 55 F.)
Some view... without the reflective idiot.
Sand.
Sky.
Another sunset.. they just happen.. every night.
An eagle in the background.
Puffy.
